The Sierpinski triangle, the fractal figure that was chosen as École des Ponts’ logo, will be under the spotlight on April 16, during the meeting ‘Fract’art: hazard and geometry for all’. This is a science outreach initiative that has emerged from the collaboration between the laboratory of Hydrology, Meteorology and Complexity and the science museum Exploradôme. Designed and presented by Auguste Gires, the workshop will be an opportunity to discover the fractal theory on the basis of common geometric shapes: the segment, the triangle, the rectangle and the circle. Participants will be actively involved and they will be asked to operate a software allowing them to create in a simple and personalized manner new fractals figures, including a revisited Sierpinski triangle.
The meeting will be held on April 16, 2016, at 16h-16.30 and 16h45-17h15. It will be hosted by the Exploradôme: 18 avenue Henri Barbusse, Market Place, 94400 Vitry-sur-Seine Attendance is free, but registration is recommended. Learn more about this event.
