Applications: geophysics flows

The geophysical measured time series contain information at different scales: seasonal variation, daily variation, turbulence ...etc. In some studies we need to separate the different effects of these variations in order to identify some processes. We show in this example the use of EMD method on temperature time series in order to separate the large scales with small scales.

We can then reconstruct the signal without the trend by summing the different IMFs, as shown in the following figure:
