Wide range of scale
As discussed in the previous module (source of complexity) most of systems found in nature involve a large range of scale which interact each other. This is why it is that difficult to model these systems. The most known phenomenon which display this characteristics is the turbulent flow.
One of the most illustrative complex processes relates to atmospheric and oceanic turbulence. Originally, the word turbulence referred to the random motion of a crowd, turba being the Latin for crowd.
