Scale ratio

It is common to see emerging issues of general orders related to scale in dynamic systems analysis in time or space distributions :

  • What is the suitable scale of observation ?

  • How do the system's characteristics change at different scales ?

  • Could the information be transferred from the observed scale to other scales ? if yes, how ?

We suppose that the process can be observed at different scales, these scales are linked by the scale ratio defined as :

\lambda = \frac{L}{l}

Where is the largest scale and is the smallest scale in which the process is observed.
